The second season of Ncuti Gatwa's regeneration as the Doctor will air Apr 12 on BBC ONE, BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Disney Plus outside of the UK. Already the internet has a plethora of information and speculation about new companions, new villains, you know...all the usual hullabaloo that surrounds any popular franchise. But some of these tidbits are a bit easier to pin down and get closer looks at, such as the addition of film and television actor Freddie Fox.

Fox has been acting for over a decade and there is a good chance he has played a part in one of your favorites productions. Known for Worried About the Boy (Marilyn), The Three Musketeers (King Louis) and more recently House of the Dragon (Ser Gwayne HIghtower) and The Sandman (Loki), he is an insanely talented actor whose lupine looks lend themselves perfectly to the world of fantasy. Doctor Who is nothing if not fantastical, so what does the show have planned for Fox's character?
Eagle-eyed viewers may just catch a peek of Fox in the trailer released by the BBC, but take it from the horse's (or rather showrunner's) mouth. Russell T. Davies is admittedly a fan of the award-nominated actor having worked with him on the Channel 4 series Cucumber.
"It’s been 10 years since I worked with Freddie on Cucumber, and this is a great way to celebrate the anniversary. He’s the most spectacular actor, and he comes to Doctor Who with fury, venom, cunning, and a beautiful set of horns. Doctor beware!"Russell T. Davies
In addition to Fox's film and television credits he also treads the boards as a theatrical performer and received a Laurence Oliver nomination for his role as Tristan Tzara in the play Travesties.

Perhaps lesser known but just as impressive as his body of work is Fox's philanthropic activities. His passion for serving and his contributions to charities around the world are admirable and his effort makes real impact. He is also a straight shooter when it comes to serving the underserved, in particular his commitment to Hope and Homes for children and the children of Rwanda. Kind of makes it hard to hate him as a villain but viewers will do their best.
We may not know which specific role Fox will play in the new season. But the hints we have received so far from sources and Davies himself point towards a clever, cunning, and horned alien dedicated to causing the Doctor all sorts of troubles and grievances. As the Doctor is more than up to the task for this, be sure to catch the new season on Apr 12 on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, and Disney Plus to see what is sure to be an epic battle of wits, style, and charm.
