The Master's introduction
Roger Delgado
Roger Delgado debuted the Master in the "Terror of the Autons" storyline, where he was introduced as a known entity for the Doctor. Despite being incredibly clever and more than willing to kill, the Doctor initially downplayed his threat level. That would soon change, as the Master became a near-constant antagonist for the Third Doctor and UNIT.
He appeared in every serial of Season 8, along with two in Season 9 and one in Season 10. Those appearances are listed below:
- Season 8, Episodes 1-4: Terror of the Autons
- Season 8, Episodes 6-10: The Mind of Evil
- Season 8, Episodes 11-14: The Claws of Axos
- Season 8, Episodes 18-20: Colony in Space
- Season 8, Episodes 21-25: The Dæmons
- Season 9, Episodes 9-14: The Sea Devils
- Season 9, Episodes 21-26: The Time Monster
- Season 10, Episodes 11-14: Frontier in Space
NOTE: The Master did not appear in the first episode of "The Mind of Evil," the first three episodes of "Colony in Space," or the first two episodes of "Frontier in Space." Because of that, those episodes were not listed above. However, it's a good idea to watch the full serial, despite his absences.
Unfortunately, Roger Delgado died in a car accident before he could finish the planned arc for the Master. This left the character's fate unclear, which would not be clarified for another three years out of respect for his version of the character.
