With season 2 airing in just five days, here are my best tips for getting ready.

After a ten month wait, we're in the homestretch for season 2 of the Ncuti Gatwa era of Doctor Who with just five more days to wait. As a long-time fan of the show who just recently started watching it live, I'm so excited to experience this jam-packed, creative season.

Here are my tips for preparing to watch season 2...

Catch up on season 1

Whether you fell in love with the season as much as I did and want to rewatch everything, or you need a refresher on Verada Sethu, Mrs. Flood, and where we left Ruby Sunday, it's not too late to rewatch the penultimate episodes of season 1. If you're brand new to Doctor Who itself, season 1 also happens to be a great place to start, but there are some things you should know before getting into the show. (Mainly, how obsessed you're going to be!)

Follow the social media pages

The Doctor Who social media pages are a great source of cast photos, interviews, and teasers for what comes next. I've been enjoying getting all the details, including episode titles, writers, and directors. Their latest video of a short interview between Ncuti Gatwa and Verada Sethu (or "V" as he affectionately calls her) made me fall in love with the main cast even more.

Make watch plans

If you're a US fan, make sure to dust off your Disney+ and ensure everything's in order for the big day. (Also, keep time zones in mind.) If you can't watch it live, sign out of your internet spaces to avoid spoilers and stay away from your favorite diehard fans. Maybe even invite those fans to watch with you and make it a tradition each week. Doctor Who is all about the universe, and there's nothing better than sharing it with someone else.

Set up watch day traditions

Whether that's tea and homemade scones, your favorite candy from overseas, or your own drinking game of every time the TARDIS jukebox plays, watch day can be infinitely special. It's my husband's and my tradition to watch the show together, so I might surprise him with themed snacks this year.

Keep an open mind!

There are, as always, a lot of rumors, theories, and opinions circulating about Doctor Who. Some of us have specific hopes for this season (the return of the Master, anyone?), others are watching cautiously to see if it's something they're going to enjoy. Remember, Doctor Who has always been about change, diversity, and wild creativity. No matter what, there's going to be something beautiful or entertaining about season 2.

I can't wait to watch it with you!
