5 things I'm looking forward to in Season 2 of Doctor Who (2023-)

I'm very excited for the next season of Doctor Who, and here are five big reasons.

It's been a few months since the Doctor Who Christmas special "Joy to the World", and I'm feeling ready for more Ncuti Gatwa, epic adventures, and heartfelt moments--pronto.

Fortunately, the air date for the next season was announced in an official tweet from the Doctor Who Twitter/X page...

In less than six weeks, all-new Doctor Who will be streaming on Disney+ and BBC iPlayer. I simply can't wait!

Here are five things I'm most looking forward to in the Season 2 of the Ncuti Gatwa era.

1. More Ruby Sunday

Millie Gibson brought our brilliant Ruby Sunday to life in Season 1, and while she is no longer the main companion, we've been promised more of her story. I'd love to see her in her healing, happy-with-family era, but I know RTD is going to throw more at her, and I can't wait for that too. Does it have something to do with her neighbor Mrs. Flood?

2. Answers to the Mrs. Flood mystery

Anita Dobson (second from the left) debuted as Ruby Sunday's mysterious neighbor Mrs. Flood and more hints were dropped about her as the season went on. Why does she suddenly know what a TARDIS is? Is she a threat to Ruby Sunday? Is she secretly an older version of Clara Oswald? And why was she such a big deal at the Doctor Who prom?

3. The new companion Belinda Chandra

Verada Sethu first appeared as Mundy Flynn in one of the top-rated episodes of the Fifteenth Doctor era, "Boom". She plays a church of England soldier on a wartorn planet who runs into the Doctor and cares for a little girl. I loved her performance, and I'm excited to see RTD pull a classic trick and bring her back as a companion. Her acting credits also include Jurassic World: Dominion and the TV series Andor. Welcome to the Whoniverse, Verada!

4. Brilliant guest stars

Whether they become famous later or are right now, Doctor Who always has the best guest stars, and I can't wait to see who they bring out this time. Alan Cumming was one of the guest stars most recently announced, and I'm personally most excited for Jonah Hauer-King. He's been amazing in The Little Mermaid (2023), Little Women (2017), and The Song of Names, and I can't wait to see what he brings to this role.

5. More Doctor Who in general

Last but not least, I'm so excited for more Doctor Who! The show has been a staple in my life for years now, and I know the creativity, acting, and production of this next season are going to be amazing. Also, more of the dynamic Ncuti Gatwa is always a plus.

See you on April 12th!
