Torchwood news: Big Finish stories revealed for 2021!

Details of next year’s Torchwood stories from Big Finish have been revealed – as well as hints of what we can expect for the Doctor Who spin-off’s fifteenth anniversary.
Big Finish has revealed some key details and hints of what we can look forward to in 2021 with their Torchwood audios. Along with details of the first three releases, we’re also given hints of what’s planned for the show’s fifteenth anniversary.
January, February, and March will see the release of Coffee by James Goss, Drive by David Llewelyn, and Lease of Life by Aaron Lamont, respectively. The stories will be focused on Owen Harper (Burn Gorman), Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd), and Toshiko Sato (Naoko Mori).
James Goss, producer of Big Finish’s Torchwood audios, reveals what we can expect from next year’s early releases.
"We’ve got a lot of joys planned – starting with our January release Coffee which celebrates the first three series of Torchwood from the point-of-view of the owners of a cafe in Cardiff Bay.We’ve also got Owen investigating the worst flat share in the world and Tosh teams up with a taxi driver to save the city."
Big Finish have given us several special Torchwood releases over the years, including the official continuation of the TV series. What could they have planned for 2021?

Fifteenth anniversary
As well as the regular audios, Goss also hints that there’s something really special that we can look to in May – as well as a few other things for the Doctor Who spin-off’s fifteenth anniversary.
"Beyond that, subscribers to the monthly range will get a real treat with the fiftieth release. We’re also looking at doing something really lovely to celebrate Torchwood‘s fifteenth anniversary (we’ve been recording it for over a year and are still going!) and there’ll be several other special releases."
It’s not surprising that they’ve got a few special things planned. In 2016 – to celebrate ten years of Torchwood – we saw the release of The Torchwood Archive. Featuring a huge cast of characters, The Torchwood Archive took an extensive look at the show’s mythology, featuring many characters from the organization’s past, present and future. (Mr. Colchester even got to have a quick cameo in the release – almost a year before he would be properly introduced in the audio series Torchwood: Aliens Among Us.) So I wouldn’t be too surprised if we got something equally special to celebrate fifteen years of the show.
Regardless, Big Finish’s Torchwood audios have always been consistently strong and something that we can look forward to. Whether it’s exploring gaps in the show’s history or even continuing the story, we know that their stories are always worth a listen. We can’t wait to learn what else they’ve got planned for next year.
