The Daleks restore themselves to full power with thanks to their original creator in the latest volume of Doctor Who: The Eighth Doctor: Time War – out now!

Today sees the release of a rather special Doctor Who box set. Not only is The Eighth Doctor: Time War 4 the latest volume exploring the epic conflict between the Time Lords and the Daleks. But it also features a long-awaited reunion between the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) and Davros (Terry Molloy).

This is actually pretty big. Even with Big Finish and their vast number of audio stories, we haven’t had a story where the Eighth Doctor met Davros since Terror Firma back in 2005. A reunion between these two has been long overdue, especially since that story saw Davros push the Doctor almost to breaking point.

But is this the Davros we know? When Time War 4 begins with the two-part Palindrome by John Dorney, the Doctor and Bliss (Rakhee Thakrar) arrive on an alternative Skaro untouched by the Time War – until the Daleks arrive. Dreadshade by Lisa McMullin explores a Gallifrey that is adjusting to a major change, while Restoration of the Daleks by Matt Fitton sees the Daleks fight back with a vengeance.

The return of Davros

This is Terry Molloy’s first Big Finish appearance as Davros in several years. Unsurprisingly, this isn’t just exciting for fans, but also for Molloy, too.

"There is a definite thrum of anticipation when I open a Davros script, as I’m always in awe of what new devilment the writers have come up with. It is good (and rightly so) to see Davros involved in the machinations of the Time War and in ways that may not initially be obvious. The creativity of the writers does not in any way disappoint!"

The Eighth Doctor: Time War has been an extremely strong and exciting series so far. With the long-overdue return of a great enemy, plus the resolution to volume 3’s extremely exciting cliffhangerTime War 4 looks set to be one of the most exciting volumes yet. You can order it on CD or download directly from Big Finish’s website right now.
