Doctor Who news: Virtual Big Finish Day announced for Aug 1 2020

Virtual Big Finish Day has been announced for Aug 1, 2020 – a livestream of interviews, panels, and much more featuring numerous Doctor Who writers and actors.
Every year, Big Finish has hosted their own convention, Big Finish Day, which has often included major announcements, panels, and a huge number of Big Finish cast and crew members appearing in person. For fans of Doctor Who on audio, it was often seen as a major annual event.
This time however, the convention has had to be delayed until next year due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, while UK fans won’t be getting to meet their favorite actors or writers in person this year, Big Finish has arranged for something very special – something that fans around the world can enjoy, in fact.
On Aug 1, from 16:00 UK time, fans will get to enjoy Virtual Big Finish Day on the Big Finish YouTube channel. The six-hour event will feature a livestream of interviews, panels, mini-documentaries, and more.

Virtual event
The virtual event will include many cast and crew members that have worked on a number of Big Finish productions, including Paul McGann, Carole Ann Ford, Alex Kingston, John Dorney, and Blair Mowat, to name a few.
Big Finish Creative Director Nicholas Briggs has revealed exactly how this virtual event came about.
"We were disappointed to have to cancel our annual one-day Big Finish Day event at Derby QUAD, but we racked our brains to think what was possible by way of an alternative. Throughout the coronavirus crisis, we’ve continued to produce many audio dramas so we thought a little peek into our lockdown lives might be fun. Virtual Big Finish Day promises star guests and surprises, as cast, crew and fans come together to make a special online event where everyone is invited."
This sounds like a very exciting event for Big Finish fans, particularly for those who live outside of the UK. While this may not capture the same special feeling as getting to see your favorite writers and actors in person, it’s still a great opportunity for fans worldwide to take part and enjoy a taste of the convention spirit, at least.
But if you’re still eager to attend the convention itself, you’re in luck. It’s been announced that Big Finish Day has been rescheduled for May 22 2021. If you had purchased tickets for this year’s originally planned event, it will automatically be transferred over to 2021.
