The Eighth Doctor’s role in the multi-media Doctor Who event Time Lord Victorious will be revealed in three full-cast audios later this year!

Ever since it was announced back in April, we’ve been eager for more news on the multi-media event Time Lord Victorious. So far, details have been released of two upcoming Tenth Doctor novels from BBC Books, which seem to place Ten at the center of events. But what audio stories will be told by Big Finish Productions? And for which Doctor?

Tonight, Big Finish has finally revealed those answers. From Oct to Dec 2020, three full-cast stories will be released starring Paul McGann as the Eighth Doctor. Not only will he be facing his old enemies the Daleks in the middle of the Time War, but he’ll also be meeting a rather unusual Ood called Brian.

In some ways, Big Finish’s choice of Doctor to focus on for Time Lord Victorious is unsurprising. After all, with his Doctor usually appearing in several audios every year, plus the announcement revealing that he would be involved in some way, it makes sense that Paul McGann would be the main star of Big Finish’s full-cast audios for the event.

New writers

The trilogy of Time Lord Victorious stories include He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not by Carrie Thompson; The Enemy of My Enemy by Tracy Ann Baines, and Mutually Assured Destruction by Lizzie Hopley.

Producer Alfie Shaw is unsurprisingly extremely excited about these releases.

"Time Lord Victorious has been a glorious delight to work on. James Goss’s vision is astounding, and it’s been such an honour to work with him to bring Big Finish’s part of the project to life.We have three new authors writing the Eighth Doctor trilogy, pitting him against one of my new favourite characters in Doctor Who, Brian the Ood Assassin, as well old favourites, the Daleks. It all ties into the bigger Time Lord Victorious patchwork, but you can just listen to the McGann Trilogy and enjoy it on its own."

We’re certainly eager to find out how this connects to Time Lord Victorious as a whole. We’re also eager to see exactly what makes these audios different compared to the stories told in audio series The Eighth Doctor: Time War. How do the overall events of this multi-media project affect something as big as the Time War? We can’t wait to find out.

The Time Lord Victorious audio dramas will be released from Big Finish from Oct to Dec 2020. You can pre-order each story either individually or as part of a bundle right now from Big Finish’s website.
