If you want to know what happened next to the Doctor’s daughter, you can find out in the first episode of her own Doctor Who spin-off series – free until Monday!

It’s funny to think that the character of Jenny, played by Georgia Tennant, was only in one episode of Doctor Who – specifically, The Doctor’s Daughter. Her time in the series was relatively minimal, and yet fans have always wanted more of the character. Perhaps not in spite of but because her run was so brief – after all, with her being the Doctor’s biological daughter, the character clearly had a lot of potential.

The last time we saw Jenny on-screen, she had just come back from the dead and was heading off in a spaceship of her own. But what next for the character? Well, while we have yet to see her return to the TV series, we have seen her in other media, at least. One example is comic crossover The Lost Dimension, where she met several different incarnations of her father.

While that was a lot of fun, perhaps even more exciting have been the character’s audio appearances. Because not only has Georgia Tennant reprised her old role. Not only has the character appeared in Big Finish’s twentieth-anniversary box set The Legacy of Time. But, perhaps even more exciting than that is her own spin-off series. The first episode of which is free, right now, directly from Big Finish

Jenny: The Doctor’s Daughter

Released back in 2018, Jenny: The Doctor’s Daughter is exactly what you might expect – Jenny exploring the universe, having her own series of adventures. While personally, I wasn’t initially sure whether her own series would work – especially as her Doctor Who story has never been a favorite of mine – I must admit, her own series is great.

It works so well because of two key reasons. First, the writers have a firm grasp of what the series is. The stories told in Jenny: The Doctor’s Daughter are relatively light, but still provide us with plenty of memorable and ruthless bad guys and offer some interesting themes. Overall, the series comes across as a rather entertaining one.

Perhaps even more important than knowing what the series is knowing who Jenny is. Everyone has a firm grasp of the character, and none more so than Georgia Tennant herself. Not only does she play the leading role, but she’s even one of the producers.

Her own protagonist

As a result, there’s a clear direction for the character. On television, we barely got to know her. But on audio? We get to see just how brilliant she really is. Witty, smart, and with fierce morals, it’s clear that she’s inherited a lot from her father.

But at the same time, she’s also her own character, too. She’s essentially brand new to the universe, and so lacks the vast experience of the Doctor. But she more than makes up for this with her strong instincts, making her a protagonist that stands out on her own terms.

If you want to discover for yourself what makes Jenny so brilliant, (both the character herself and the series,) make sure to download Stolen Goods, the first episode of Jenny: The Doctor’s Daughter, before next Monday, when a brand new story will be made available to download. And if you enjoy that story, you can currently get the rest of the series at half price!
