Doctor Who news: A companion falls in love in Deleted Scenes – out now!

The Second Doctor and Jamie arrive in Paris, and Jamie falls in love, in the brand new Doctor Who short story Deleted Scenes!
Perfect for Valentine’s Day, a brand new Short Trip has been released where Jamie McCrimmon – companion to the Second Doctor – falls in love. In Paris, no less! The second Short Trip of 2020, Deleted Scenes promises to be a little more romantic than your usual Doctor Who story.
"For all that Jamie has seen and done in his travels, nothing quite prepared him for the magic of being a film star.During a Parisian holiday in 1908, he and the Doctor are taken in by film director Céline Tessier and soon find themselves immersed in the world of the silver screen.However, Jamie will discover that – in show business – where there is delight, one must also expect one’s share of tragedy."
As with many Short Trips featuring Jamie McCrimmon, Frazer Hines – the original actor who portrayed Jamie – narrates the story. Hines also does a solid impression of Patrick Troughton’s Doctor, so I’m sure we can expect their usual banter in Angus Dunican’s story.

Love story
From writer Angus Dunican’s description, it sounds like Deleted Scenes is very much a perfect story for Valentine’s Day.
"At its core, Deleted Scenes is a love story. There is romance between Jamie and a gifted film director named Céline, the love and passion that she has for her art, and the difficult choices that the Doctor must make when his compassion for the pair of them leads to trouble."
Producer Alfie Shaw seems particularly pleased with this story.
"Deleted Scenes is gorgeous. I must confess, I got a bit weepy reading the first draft! Angus has pulled together a thing of beauty and Frazer’s performance lifts the whole story off the page wondrously. Entertaining, educational, and with a strong chance it’ll make you cry. What more could you ask for?"
