Jodie Whittaker looks to have gained some notoriety among younger fans
When Jodie Whittaker was announced as the Doctor, the one big thing that people hoped was that little girls would join the Doctor Who fandom.
It was one of many hopes of fans who were supporting Jodie Whittaker as many of us were drowned out by people who were shouting that the ship was sinking. While other people made RIP 1963-2017 Doctor Who memes, we had a tiny hope.
And now, that hope has started to come true. Twitter has had so many people, mostly kids, take pictures with Jodie Whittaker. Kids are starting to take notice again. Little girls are dressing up as the Doctor and wanting to take a picture with her. And while they do, Jodie is just the right age for parents to feel aligned with. It’s like if ten years ago of Doctor Who was happening right now.
Say it with me: we have a new generation of fans.
Even the Radio Times took enough notice to make a video out of all the fans.

You can see that there are kids there and that we are embarking on something special. We can feel it in the air. And it might all look discombobulated right now with the out of place pouch at the front of her costume, and with only knowing half the details, but let’s focus on what we do know: the fans.

The people who claim to hate the idea of a female Doctor are only to be found online, and even though polls give you different data every time you take one, it seems like more children are interested. Here’s why: unfortunately there was a disconnect between children and Peter Capaldi. Unfortunately, there might have been a disconnect between parents and Matt Smith. Both because of age.

Both Jodie Whittaker, as an actress, is perfect. As a Doctor, I guarantee she’ll give kids that “mother” factor, and as for parents, I’d bet, knowing what Chibnall has done, they’ll sneak in-jokes for adults.
You can call this PC thinking and my liberal agenda, but truly, when have we seen someone have so much fan notice that the Radio Times takes an interest?
