Am I screaming? I’m not screaming. You guys know I’m totally rational when it comes to River Song on televison…

Okay, I’m screaming. A lot. I can barely get through this article I’m so excited. What can I say? I’m a fangirl, through and through. And it’s (hopefully) why you guys love this site.

So, let’s all take a breath, and let’s go through what we know about Alex Kingston’s appreciation for the thirteenth Doctor.

July 16th: The Doctor is announced while a panel with Alex Kingston is happening. She makes kissing noises and says “I’m SUCH a cradlesnatcher!”

Earlier this week: Kingston is at the Edmonton Expo and says “I think [River] would take her into her arms and give her a big kiss!”

Verdict? Alex Kingston is confirming that River is absolutely bisexual, which I’m totally here for, as there are very little bisexual characters on television. And it looks like we could expect the Doctor to be bisexual too. It makes sense, the Doctor has been into women as a guy, why should that change because of gender?

As we saw with the Masters, the idea of man and women is already perplexing to Time Lords, so it shouldn’t matter anyway.

So, River is still the Doctor’s wife?

If Alex Kingston has anything to say about it! According to what else she said at the Edmonton Expo:

"“I think it would be fantastic. It’d be great fun to explore that possibility, particularly now that the Doctor is going to regenerate into a female form.“If you’re going to do that, why not explore other potentials in terms of his relationships with former, well not former companions because River was never a companion, but people who have been in his life in the past, or her life?“So yeah, let’s wait and see.”"

The great thing about River is that even on Derillium, where she and the Doctor spent 24 years together before sending her to the Library. It looks like Kingston has her own ideas about how to make her character come back as well:

"“She has a vortex manipulator,” Kingston explained, “and while in a sense her timeline has somewhat been bookended, it doesn’t necessarily mean (given the way she time travels) that it would prevent her from being able to travel and meet this incarnation.“After all, when she lifts up her diary and all the incarnations flutter out, there are one or two spaces. So I think it’d be great if she met with Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor.”"

So basically, I think Alex Kingston is willing to do anything to get on an episode with Jodie Whittaker. I wonder how Matt Smith feels about this, as I distinctly remember him being adamant that River is kept with his Doctor and no one else?

Sorry, Matt! A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do!
