Spoilers! Could someone be returning at Christmas after all?
After a brilliant season 10, it’s time to look forward to the Doctor Who Christmas special and Capaldi’s regeneration. There’s a lot we don’t know, but rumors are starting surface.

Back in May, BBC announced they rented the restaurant that was used for Clara’s TARDIS in Hell Bent. Since then, it’s been a question as to whether or not Clara would return for the Doctor Who Christmas Special.
It’s common for the first character the Doctor sees with his “new eyes” to be present for his regeneration. The Tenth Doctor saw Rose right before he regenerated, the Eleventh Doctor saw young Amelia and Amy Pond right before he regenerated as well. This always made it likely Clara would return.
This past weekend, the Mirror put out an article saying that Coleman signed on to come back. According to the article,
"Our source reveals: “ Jenna Coleman has agreed to film something new as Clara. It’s become a tradition now for the companions to reappear as the Doctor regenerates and Jenna isn’t letting the side down.“It’ll help to give Peter the send-off he deserves after three years.”"
The source also said that both Bill and Nardole appear in “some form” in the episode, but most likely with flashbacks or clips already shot.
The Christmas episode marks an iconic ending for a Doctor, with David Bradley returning as the First Doctor. We don’t know the synopsis for the Christmas episode, or how the First Doctor fits into Twelve’s regeneration. There has been speculation, but no confirmation.

No matter how it works, it will be great to see Clara again to send off the Doctor. Though she got off to a shaky start, the Doctor and Clara became a great duo to the likes of iconic Classic companions and Doctors.
