After being the Doctor for four years, David Tennant has had his run of the stage from with Hamlet, Richard II.  After filming season three of Broadchurch, he is currently in a run on the West End stage, playing Don Juan in Don Juan in SoHo.

The Guardian ran an article a few weeks ago where David Tennant explained how he gets ready for every show. Before show that Tennant has been in, he’s picked an album to listen to before the show as a way to prepare. From Coldplay to David Bowie, his picks have varied in the previous roles.

For Don Juan in SoHo, he’s picked Rag’n’Bone Man’s Human. He says that the CD he picks is normally whatever he “feels like”. Though he claims not to follow the superstitions most actors follow over time, this is his one. He claims that he has to play it, even if he’s sick of it.

The synopsis of the show follows the 1665 play, only updated into a modern story, including changes to make it seem more recent. David Tennant plays Don Juan, his name now DJ. The Guardian has also said that David Tennant was astounding, in this raving review they wrote.

"Tennant’s relish of the part is contagious, and DJ’s self-approval goes into overdrive. He lists his attributes like Cole Porter gone to the bad (“You’re the bottom” might sum him up). Yet Tennant brings out the ambiguity of the character too. He is amoral, indefensible and outrageously sexist yet a shrewd critic of society."
