Michelle Gomez Says that She Will Return to Doctor Who “Soon”
By David Hill
After months of waiting to find out if Missy would be returning to Doctor Who, Michelle Gomez brings us good, albeit vague, news.
One of the best parts of Doctor Who over the past couple of seasons has been the chemistry between Michelle Gomez and Peter Capaldi. The brilliant way that they play off of each other as the Master and the Doctor has been plainly apparent since Missy’s debut in Series Eight, giving their relationship another dimension.
However, the show is undergoing quite a few changes. We have a new companion in Bill. Steven Moffat is departing after Series Ten, with Chris Chibnall taking over as the showrunner. There have been rumors about whether or not Capaldi himself will be leaving the show around the same time (although this is not likely). Naturally, amidst the chaos, there had been little information about whether or not Missy would return.
That has changed. According to an article from The Music, Gomez says she will be returning to film Doctor Who “soon,” adding that in the next week, she will find out exactly what she is doing. While the details remain unclear, even to Gomez it seems, the Doctor’s frenemy appears ready to return to Series Ten.
More from Winter is Coming
- For All Mankind finally gives us information in Episode 405, “Goldilocks”
- Watch a stunning VFX breakdown of The Wheel of Time season 2
- Of course Steve Toussaint (Corlys Velaryon) thinks Eve Best (Rhaenys Targaryen) should rule Westeros
- Confirmed: The Last of Us season 2 will air in 2025
- Final season of Star Trek: Discovery will have “a lot of action, a lot of adventure, a lot of fun”
With the amount of changes that will be coming to the show, having a familiar face returning in Gomez will certainly ease the transitions. We know who and what she is, and when Missy does make her appearance, we vaguely know what to expect.
It will be fun to watch her interact with Bill. Given that the new companion seems as though she will question everything, the idea of Missy playing Twenty Questions with her seems quite entertaining. How long will it be until Bill tries Missy’s patience, and she attempts to rid the Doctor of his new companion by some diabolical means? Chances are, with Missy’s personality and murderous tendencies, it will not take all too long.
