A compilation of various recent Doctor Who news from around the internet for March 9th, 2016

Despite the general trend toward eliminating hard copies of media in favor of virtual digital files, some folks still like to see their physical collections lined up on shelves. If you are one of these people and are looking for some bargain Doctor Who or other BBC merchandise, it may behoove you to head over to the BBC Shop.  According to The Guardian, BBC Worldwide sent out a customer email stating that the shop will be closing on midnight of March 29th, 2016.

The focus has been shifted to the new BBC Store, which provides online media downloads, and is already available to customers in the United Kingdom. As for other markets,

"BBC Worldwide said it was keeping its digital DVD and merchandise stores open in the US and Canada. The global service will shut its operation in stages, with the last order deadline for customers in the “rest of the world” set for 14 March, across Europe on 21 March, and finally the UK on 29 March."

Kids are a huge part of the Doctor Who fandom. Some of them have even become famous, themselves, as is the case with 12-year-old George Buckland aka Mini Matt Smith. He not only attends conventions — at which he is in high demand for photos and autographs — dressed as the Eleventh Doctor, but he is also known for interviewing many actors from the show. These interviews take place at conventions, and can be seen on his Youtube channel. Also on his channel, you can find additional content, such as other convention happenings and merchandise unboxings. His latest interview is with Strax actor Dan Starkey at GEEKS Swind-Con 2016.

According to Chad,

"George’s YouTube channel has also recently paired with Maker Studios, one of the worlds biggest content creator companies which is owned by Disney. He uses the . . . events to raise money for Dreams Come True – a charity which helps children with life limiting conditions have a dream come true.. . .And as a thanks for all his hard work and support, the charity has built him a life-sized tardis, which is kept in the conservatory of the house."
