Rumor: Will the Doctor regenerate next episode?

So we’ve been speculating and pondering throughout the season about what will actually happen when the Doctor regenerates. There have been many rumors throughout the past couple weeks — if he’ll regenerate early, if he’ll regenerate at Christmas, and above all, the story behind the regeneration.

It looks like we’ll soon have an answer. For all the speculation, let’s turn to this week’s teaser for Lie of the Land.

Throughout the teaser, we see the doctor in a blazer and a white shirt. Ignoring everything else that happens in this video except for the last couple of seconds, we get a huge hint of what’s most likely going to happen. We see Bill with a gun facing the Doctor, figuring she’s going to shoot it.

Does this outfit look familiar to anyone?

These photos, from the series trailer back in April, are the same outfit of what he’s wearing in the next episode of Doctor Who.

As of right now, we have no idea why Bill is doing this. We know that in The Lie of The Land, she spends most of the episode with Missy, but what we don’t know is why the Doctor is joining the monks, or why he’s disappeared like Nardole said.

There are some ideas that could have nothing to do with regeneration.

That Doctor isn’t our Doctor

For some reason, we could have the two universes falling together and this is the simulation Doctor, and Bill is trying to kill the simulation in order to keep the real Doctor. It seems possible, as the fact that he’s joined the monks and disappeared. It could be something where they’re trying to erase simulations.

Missy wants the Doctor dead

I highly doubt this one, especially after what she said at her execution. But think about it, there’s a lot we don’t know about that. We don’t know why she was being executed, we don’t know if anything she said on the chopping block was true. People will say a lot of things when death is staring them in the face. Maybe she wants the Doctor dead, just for being willing to show up at her execution.

That’s not the Doctor at all

John Simm has to come on at some point. We know from reports that Michelle Gomez is playing beside John Simm at some point in the season, and this is the last episode she’s slated to be in except for the two part episode. Could this be the introduction for John Simm?

Remember – this has happened before!

Remember in series six when the Doctor was going to regenerate but was cut off? I’m sure the whole story wasn’t told in the trailers for the episode. The Doctor could find a way to stop his regeneration. In the beginning, we hoped that a partial regeneration would help the Doctor regain his eyesight back, but Bill, right or wrong, took care of that.

Is it possible he’s in debt to the monks because they gave him his eyesight back?

These are only a few of the many questions we have, and speculations we’ll bring you throughout the week on The Lie of the Land. Do you have questions you want us to look at? Tweet us at @DrWhoWatch!
