Doctor Who Director Daniel Nettheim Has Returned for Series Ten

Daniel Nettheim, director of ‘The Zygon Invasion’/’The Zygon Inversion,’ has returned for Series Ten of Doctor Who.

Starting in the summer, there have been a lot of writers confirmed for the upcoming Series Ten of Doctor Who — writers such as Mark Gatiss, Mike Bartlett, Sarah Dollard, Frank Cottrell-Boyce, Rona Munro, and Jamie Mathieson. Bartlett is a newcomer to the Doctor Who family, while the rest have written for the show in the past. Munro, in particular, wrote the final serial that aired during the classic years.
Of course, Steven Moffat — as is the norm for him in his position as showrunner — is contributing both his writing and directing talents to Series Ten. But what of the other directors? Well, it has recently been confirmed that Daniel Nettheim will be directing at least one episode for this coming year.
Posting to his Instagram account, he gave us a teaser picture of the TARDIS from his first day of shooting.
Nettheim previously directed the two part Series Nine story ‘The Zygon Invasion’/’The Zygon Inversion.’ He also was a director for the Doctor Who spin-off K9 for the episodes ‘Sirens of Ceres,’ ‘The Fall of the House of Gryffen,’ ‘Dream-Eaters,’ and ‘Oroborus.’
His other connection to the Doctor Who family is that he is the nephew of actor David Nettheim, who played the role of Fedorin in the Season Five serial ‘The Enemy of the World.’ The character was second-in-command to central European controller Alexander Denes.
