Billie Piper’s Life Before and After Doctor Who

Being a part of Doctor Who can significantly change the lives of those involved. That was definitely the case with Billie Piper.

Life was a lot different for Billie Piper before she joined the Doctor Who family. Instead of being an actor, she was a pop singer, with her song ‘Because We Want To’ being a huge hit in the United Kingdom. She debuted atop the charts in the country, becoming the youngest singer ever to do so.

Those days were not all they were cracked up to be, though. Being in the spotlight put a lot of pressure on Piper, and when she was unable to replicate the success of her debut, her star faded. Eventually, she gravitated to acting, getting a big break when she landed the role of Rose Tyler on the revival of Doctor Who.

With the success of the show, her life changed once again. Piper was back in the spotlight, as before, was unable to go about her business without being recognized. This was different than her previous brush with stardom, however, with the history of the show furthering her visibility.

As Piper said, it changed her life. Unlike her days as a pop singer, a time which she can barely remember, this run has a different feel. The traumatic experience from before is not present, as Piper seems to be enjoying her celebrity status this time through.

Likewise, she has been able to parlay that run on Doctor Who into further success. Instead of being relegated to one hit wonder status, like in her music career, Piper has been able to find other leading roles. Her time on Penny Dreadful, in particular, has added another layer of esteem to her career, and should help ensure that she remains in the public eye for some time.
