Doctor Who News: New Series 9 Trailer and Poster!

A new Doctor Who Series 9 trailer & poster released, more Tennant return rumors, Trial of a Time Lord, no more Paternosters, Vastra/Jenny wedding, and more!

Good Thursday morning, all!

No doubt about it, the top Doctor Who story today is the surprise release of a new Series 9 trailer yesterday. It’s a bit shorter than the first one but boasts at least twice as much content:

It was all the buzz both here at Doctor Who Watch and all across the internet. We’ll have a full scene-by-scene breakdown posted later today.

Less widely reported, though, was the simultaneous release of a new Series 9 poster yesterday:

Pretty cool, right? I mean, technically we’ve seen this image before, but the three-dimensional logo sitting on the ground next to the Doctor is striking and new. I’m not so sure about that slogan: “Space and Time to Join the Adventure.” I get what they’re doing there, but I can’t say I’m in love with it.

"While I think that their relationship with the Doctor and his companions reached new storytelling heights in ‘Deep Breath,’ particularly with Vastra’s flirtatious attitude toward Clara and Jenny’s jealousy, their interactions with the Doctor seem to have hit a lull. Moffat seems to know it, too – the Paternoster Gang and the Doctor have very little direct interaction; only Clara has any meaningful dialogue with the trio. Strax has become largely one-dimensional and offers little more to the episode than a few one-liners."
